I'm not real sure why I'm just now getting around to posting this, but Back in June of '09 Josh Parker, Ashley Watts, and I headed to Wilson Creek. The next thing I remember, we're at the put-in for the Gragg Prong of Lost Cove Creek, trying to decide if there's enough water to make it all the way down. Turns out, there was. BARELY! After what seemed like an eternity at the put-in waiting on Josh to set shuttle with some other guys we ran into that day, he made it back and we put on.
I've got to say that the Gragg Prong is one special place for me. This was my second time down this creek. My first trip here was back in December of '08 taking my brand new Grande down for it's maiden voyage. The GP starts off as a rather benign little class III micro style creek, weaving it's way through a tight little rhodo tunnel. There's lots of wood to look out for and a couple mandatory portages. But once you come out of the tunnel and the sky opens up, the bottom falls out!!! This has to be the steepest stuff I have ever run. There are slides and drops of all sizes in the gorge. Everything from 4-6 foot boofs to 25-60 foot slides. And it's all clean as a whistle!!! We didn't really take any pics or vid that day. At least until we got to the biggun, DRAGSTRIP! And let's face it, that all you really want to see anyway, isn't it? Well here ya go. Enjoy!
The first vid is my run, shot from the top.
